The Red Hat Karma Kagyu school is one of the reincarnation systems of the Karma Kagyu sect of Tibetan Buddhism. It was inherited from the 14th century to the 18th century.
This paper Thangka from the Qing Dynasty depicts the second generation of the Karma Kagyu Red Hat family delivering sermons for the achievement of Mkhav Spyod Dbang Po. The scene shows Mkhav Spyod Dbang Po wearing the iconic Kagyu red hat, holding a Brahma flower in his right hand and a scripture in his left hand. All the red-hat Kagyu siddhas gathered around the Lord to listen to the Dharma. Although there are many characters drawn in this thangka, they are complex but not chaotic. The whole Thangka painting is exquisite, the lines are smooth and accurate, and the colors are fresh and elegant. What is particularly rare is that the overall composition is stable and dense, but it pursues different changes while being stable, and has a strong visual effect. Thangka is 7.87 in (20 cm) x 5.51 in (14 cm), frame is 12 in (30.5 cm) x 9.84 in (25 cm).
