Tashi Lhunpo Monastery

Tashi Lhunpo Monastery is located in the city of Shigatse in Tibet, China. It is one of the most important monasteries in Tibetan Buddhism and holds great significance for the Panchen Lama lineage. The monastery was founded in 1447 by the first Dalai Lama, Gendun Drup. Tashi Lhunpo Monastery is known for its grand architecture, including the spectacular Maitreya Chapel which houses a 26-meter-tall statue of the future Buddha. It also serves as a prominent center for religious studies, housing numerous prayer halls, chapels, and libraries.
